It is with sadness that we announce our Director of Rugby Rob Dengate has chosen to move on.

Rob joined Faversham two season ago, and has transformed the club during that time. In his first season the first team went from finishing 7th in Kent 2 to gaining promotion into Kent 1. They also won the Kent Salver beating Southwark Lancers in a memorable final. During his second season he guided the first team to a top half finish in their first season in Kent 1, despite having no clubhouse and facing troubling times off the pitch due to numerous delays with the redevelopment of the rec from Swale Borough Council.

He also led the second team to firstly playing regular fixtures and during his second season competing in league rugby for the first time in the clubs history.

Rob has commented on his departure, stating: 'I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent coaching at Faversham and I believe that the journey we have been on over the last 2 seasons has provided a platform for the club to continue being successful both on and off the pitch.

I want to say a big thank you to the committee, both Rhys and Pete as captains, it’s not an easy task! Jade as physio and Pete as my assistant coach,  who all have had a real impact on the environment that we have created on the playing side, all your support has been amazing.

Finally to every player that has pulled on a jersey and played. Faversham is a great club and one that will provide me with many happy memories. This for me is really important and hope I have had the same impact on everyone at the club.

The time has come for me to come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself and my coaching further.'

Rob is leaving us to join Gillingham Anchorians in London 3 and we wish him all the best in his future coaching career.

The club has already started searching for his replacement and wants to ensure members we will do everything we can to find the right person for the job. We are confident a new appointment can take the club from strength to strength and continue our progression as the highest achieving club in the area.
